The Network/Helpdesk specialist will;
1. support, install and maintain personal computers, local area networks, server hardware, operating systems, software and related peripherals.
2. provide technical software, hardware and network problem resolution, making independent decisions by performing question/problem diagnosis.
3. document, research, identify and attempt to solve technical problems (software, hardware, network) on initial call and/or triage where appropriate for resolution.
4. document and track support activity and clearly communicate technical solutions in a user friendly professional manner.
5. use expertise in customer service and technical knowledge gained from prior experience to resolve issues surrounding installation, applications/systems, functionality, and training on software and/or hardware products.
6. Manage and prioritize tasks and assignments setting proper expectations with users.
Help Desk support is provided on a 10 hours per day, 6 days a week basis. On-call or extended support maybe required.
Full time Bachelors degree and 5+ years related experience
Willing to work with a distributed team across geographic areas and time zones
Must be willing to work independently within the support standards
Windows XP and 7 Operating Systems, MS Office 2007 & 2010, Web browser support (including Java client and ActiveX) and Outlook messaging issues.
Exchange 2007 and 2010 expertise
Setup and management of Microsoft Server 2003, 2008
Familiarity with Firewalls, routers and switches
Backup hardware and software
VPN (IPSEC and/or SSL)
TCP/IP Connectivity, DHCP, DNS, WINS, SMTP
Client/Server application interaction
Terminal Services
Certifications (Sonicwall, Cisco, etc) a plus
CCNA, MCITP, MCTS, MCSA or similar certifications a plus
Experience deploying new and replacement laptop and desktop equipment
Virtualization (Citrix, VMWare, etc)
Experience with technologies supporting: Conference calling, desktop sharing, unified communications, VoIP and video conferencing
